The storms that make you strong

I came across a friends Facebook status over the weekend which hit a nerve. Social Media has influenced our lives to the point where we learn and reflect from each other. Although it is something we do not do on purpose it happens.
I have decided to share it with the rest of my bloggers. Please do not look at the spelling mistake but read and understand the words of the writer.

Izolo lokhu U were making people's dreams come true. U fed the needy with your kids money. U travelled countries representing South Africa as a servant, leaving abo Mvelo, Lwandle, Bambatha, Nyezi emuva with no one protecting your family against all odds. U cried daily when u heard stories of infants whom are not being taken care of. U stood up and influenced big Companies like Cell C to help U feed the needy and the orphans. U left Your mother waya emazweni... U took out money from your own pocket and paid school fees of girls from Tanzania ( Dara Salam) who were prostitutes and they changed since that day to become an asset to that country. U represented South Africa in African Countries until u were honoured by the Shakur family as the 2pac wase Mzansi. Nkosi sikelela I Africa if this is how we going to honour and celebrate our heroes downfall... Zola I believe in u, I don't care what the media is saying about U. This is not a downfall to U... This is a temporary set back. U'll bounce back. Ngizokulinda uzubuye. The devil and his people ngeke balunge. Qina ndoda ekhaya babheke wena. I wish Steve Biko was still alive to see this stupid journalist who celebrate the downfall of a black man... not just a man but a Hero to many. I salute u #Hola_7

After I read this I saw myself going back to Youtube to reflect on this guy’s work and how hard he had worked and achieve over the years. Due to life things went wrong for him and society lost faith in him. We have grown up in life that we don’t remember the hustle we went through to get where we are in life. I grew up in a family were I hardly saw my parents. I never share this story but I recently had an incident with someone who decided to judge me without knowing my story or where I am from. They see my Facebook posts or pictures on Instagram thinking this girl thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread. He said I was a person who needed constant affirmation about my looks that I never care about others but myself.
Growing up I was the only child from my mom and dad. I spent my life around cousins but to me they are my brothers and sisters. Imagine a 4 room house in Zola Soweto with more than 5 kids living with their granny. Well that’s how life was. My parents believed that they will never depend or wait for the government. They started businesses in Soweto. I won’t sugar coat anything because by me telling this story I feel I need to tell it like it was. When I was little while living in Klipspriut with my mom and dad, some men came to my parents’ house. They took everything in the house. When I asked my mom why they were taking our furniture my mom told me we were moving to granny’s house in Zola so there was not enough space to put all our belongings. Only to find out later when I grew up that was a lie. My parents were deep in debt that they had some of their furniture repossessed.
We moved to granny’s house were my parents were in the taxi business and owned a butchery in Emndeni Soweto. Life was okay as at that age as I never understood what really was happening. My parent’s had goals, but the most important goal was to take me to the best school. At the time I was at St Martin’s private school. Every day there was a transport that would drop me off and pick me up. One day my parents told me they didn’t have enough money to take me to school due to finances. It has tough but my parents never gave up on life as they saw that they had goals to achieve no matter what.
I eventually left St Martin’s and my parents enrolled me in another school. During those times taxi violence was very high. They took a decision to sell their taxis and move on to other business venture. Jobs were low and times were tough. My dad decided to go look for a job, now imagine for being a boss to calling someone else boss. He loved his family and I guess that is the man he is. He always puts his family first.
My mom had a love for fashion so she went back to her old job. She worked at John Orr’s which was a fantastic clothing store during those days. Life moved on and my parents decided it was time to buy land because living at granny’s house was not the end of them. They found a plot of land in Naturena and slowly but surely built the house.
It took them years to build the house. There was no electricity or hot water but to them they saw it as a home, their home. That was not the end of their bad luck as robbers saw that they needed to help themselves to whatever was in the house. On many occasions the house was broken into and nothing was left. Did this make my parents give up? No! They worked even harder. I remember being so embarrassed at school when my dad came fetch me in his van while all the other kids got picked up in fancy cars. I was a kid, I didn’t understand life.
My mom saw a business opportunity and decided it was time to start her own company. She would get on many taxis every day to get clothing orders from stores in Sandton, East Gate and Hyde Park. One day a lady who usually gave her orders decided to give her a workshop where she can work from instead of travelling around. Little did we know this would be the beginning of a new life for my mom? Her business grew until she eventually started her own clothing Boutique at Hyde Park Shopping Centre. Today she is making waves.
My dad was a bus driver for 15 years at Metro Bus. I am so proud of him because together with my mom they took me to the best schools. They taught me no matter what life throws at you, you pick your head up and try again.
Now for those who are constantly putting other people down I hope by reading my story you understand that do not wish for someone else’s life as you do not know the hard times  they had to endure to get where they are in life. Yes I make sure I look good every dam day of my life because I work hard for it. My family has struggled enough to live the life they are living and have offered to me.
I do not care what other’s think because while they are talking I’m busy hustling. I believe that in life never judge someone without getting to know them. People will judge you no matter what you do. You just need to keep on trying until you make it. I had a child before marriage, SO WHAT? That did not stop me from achieving my goals but it gave me strength to work harder and grow. Today i look at my life and think yes I am somewhere it might not be where I want to be but it is defiantly not where I started.
The time you spend gossiping on other people’s lives, you could be making something from your own life.  Yes I am not perfect but I wake up every morning and say thank you lord let the hustle continue.
Nothing in life is ever wrong. We learn from every step we take. Whatever you did today was a necessary step to get to tomorrow. So be proud of yourself. Maybe you are not good as you want to be but be thankful to all lessons you have learnt along the way, you are so much better than you used to be.
People love saying everything will be okay, but sometimes it’s just not true. Sometimes you hit a brick wall to a point of exhaustion. You may even feel strong and have good intention, yet still get mercilessly beaten down and defeated. We get hurt in life with different things that happen but there comes a time of healing. It does not mean the damage never existed, it just means that the damage no longer controls your life.
Steve jobs once said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

God Bless

DEFEATING FAT

Growing up I always thought that I would stay the same body size and shape. Little did I know that after motherhood reality would hit and my body would experience a dramatic change.
My daughter was born 4 years ago and my partner has never criticized my body but appreciated how I looked.  As years passed I started to feel uncomfortable with how my body was looking.  I went onto the Internet to find the fastest and easiest ways to lose weight but nothing worked; from diet pills to homemade remedies I tried anything and everything to avoid the root of going to the gym.
Many women across the world are faced with challenges but the most common challenge amongst women is weight loss.  There are so many remedies that the Internet has provided that I myself have browsed and tried with no success.
After some time I saw that there was no easy way out from shedding off the pregnancy weight.
Three months ago I decided to join the gym. This was not my first attempt at going to the gym but one thing I know had changed was my attitude towards it. I was determined and motivated that I would reach my goal even if it meant having painful muscles after a session.   I went to my nearest Virgin Active and signed up.
We all set goal at how much weight one would like to lose but I had one goal in mind. I was determined that by the time summer came I would be comfortable enough to wear a two piece swimsuit. That was my ultimate goal.
The first month I attended the classes that the gym offered but I saw no change. I still weighed the same.  This made me wonder what I was doing wrong. After some time I saw a guy who was a Personal Trainer at the gym. I decided to go find out what was his job exactly. He then explained to me what role does a Personal Trainer play. Only then did I understand that if I wanted to reach my goal by Summer time I had to make sacrifices and be more determined.
Three months ago I weighed 75kg. I am a young mother who enjoys clothes and shopping but due to this weight I was not enjoying going to the mall because trying on those clothes reminded me of how big I was.
It is July now and I pleased to say I have lost 8kg since I decided to change my life around.
To all women who are struggling with weight problems PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!
I did not go and buy fancy expensive foods that I knew that I would not be able to afford but I took what I had in the house and worked around it.
I have not reached my goal but I am seeing a big difference since I got a Personal Trainer to guide me through my journey.
My Personal Trainer recommended I go buy Biogen Whey Protein the shake and body toner pills. Biogen converts your fat into muscles that while you are working out at the gym the process is much faster.

GYM: I go to gym 5 times a week for one hour. Trust me when I say that hour in the gym makes a difference. If you go to the gym and walk out with no sore muscles you are not pushing yourself hard enough.
FOOD: I have three meals per day, small portions with two snacks in-between meals which consist of fruits.  I do not eat bread anymore or starchy foods. I stick to meat and vegetables. You may not like it at first but your body will get used to it. I have not had any fast foods in over 4 months now. This does not mean I do not treat myself once in a while.
Let us get one thing straight treating yourself does not mean you are treating yourself everyday but a treat is something you get when you feel you have deserved it. So if you have been to the gym for a whole month you deserve a treat.
Losing weight is not always about looking sexy but it is also about looking after your health.  It all starts with you. If you can think it you can achieve it.
Why wait if you can start today in changing your life around. If you say you will start next month it will always be next month. (Trust me I speak from experience)

Take control of your life and make a difference.

Taking control of your life.

I can’t remember the last time I decided to share a piece. I guess I have been so caught up with life’s challenges that I forgot to have a second to myself to share my thoughts to my lovely bloggers.
I have come to learn that in life we meet people that will either build us or break us but it is up to you to decide how you will handle those people.
Starting a new job beginning of the year I met this young lady. She had this crazy attitude to life which I must admit in the beginning I really thought she was hyper active Lol.  As months passed we got so close that I started treating her like my little sister. When one was down we would motivate each other to hang in there because we knew our goals in life that we were striving for.
Recently she was involved in a car accident. The day I heard the news I felt like my heart was about to fall out of my body. I was in shock but didn’t think she would be in a bad condition.
She had been in hospital for two weeks now and I didn't have the strength to go and see her until recently. On my arrival at the hospital seeing her in that bed brought tears to my eyes.  I could not hold my tears and cried by her bed side.  I held her close and said thank you God for saving her life for it was not her time yet.
A couple of weeks ago my brother was also involved in a car accident. A car came out of nowhere and hit him while driving back home. He was hurt but God said it was not your time. I guess these incidents have taught me that when the devil and those who have so much jealously against you want you to die if you have faith and know that God is with you, nothing will come your way.
I thank God for saving their lives and praise his name every day. Life gives us challenges that will test and build us for greater things to come. I do not know what my tomorrow has in store for me but my mother has always said to me, always says NKOSI DI THEMBE WENA (Lord I trust in you).
Sometimes when it feels like everything is falling apart it is actually falling perfectly into place. Have faith, something amazing is about to happen. I call that HOPE.
Some days are better, some days are worse. Look for the blessings instead of the curse. Be positive, stay strong, and get enough rest. You can’t do it all, but you can do your best, that is called giving it your best.
Sometimes we focus so much on what we don't have that we fail to see, appreciate, and use what we do have, that to me is being thankful.
Never throw in the towel, just use it to wipe off the sweat - then keep going. No matter how slow you are going your still overlapping all the people stuck on the couch that is never giving up.
You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analysing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can pick yourself up, acknowledge your strength, appreciate the lessons learnt and move on  #movingOn #strongerThanYesterday
Yes things happen in our lives but we have a brighter tomorrow awaiting. It’s not important how hard you fell but the most important thing is that you had the strength to get up again.

Stay blessed..

MY PAST MADE ME A BETTER PERSON

Hey all,
It’s been a while since I have had time to write. Well life has been good I must say. I started my new job at Avatar and I love every minute being there. Must say this year has gone by so fast, to think just yesterday it was January and now we are about to enter June. Compared to my previous year this year has been the best so far.
My partner and I have been working a lot on our relationship. I realized that relationships come with a lot of luggage but it’s up to the both of you to how you decide to deal with it. After a long time of contemplating I decided to come clean with to my partner about my past. It wasn’t easy. It literally took me 5 months to have the courage to tell him. I have the fear that he would leave but what is the point of being in a relationship if you won’t be honest with each other.
So there I was talking and pouring my heart out to him about all that has happened and I never realized how much my past hurt me so much till I eventually told him. Yes I cried, I was hurt but I can finally say I’m ready for the next chapter of what life brings to me.
They say you will never know how strong you are if you are not willing to take the challenge and test yourself. I took my leap of faith and changed careers and changed my thinking of life. It was not hard but the most important factor is I am happy.
Peace and love to you all.

TEMPTATIONS

So lent is nearly over and this week during church there was a script that caught me. After reading certain scripture it made me realise how the devil comes and tempts us into things we know are wrong. During my time in lent I won’t lie I have been tempted but there were times were I have given in and ate and there were times were I kept my faith and didn’t give in.

One of the key points if you want to defeat the devil is to always bring God into picture. By doing that you are showing him that no matter or how the temptations there are your lord has you and will never forsake you. If you ask for forgiveness it shall be done because God loves us all.

As humans we tend to want to run our own lives and let God sit in the passenger seat while you drive the car to your life yet we forget that if you want to succeed in life let God take control of your life, let God be the driver of your life for he knows the roads and will light them up before you see any darkness. Your can have a new life if you give Christ that chance. God is always testing us, always tell yourself that away with the spirit of fear and doubt.

If you tell yourself that you wont succeed you have already predicted your tomorrow and that is how it shall be. tell yourself I SHALL SUCCEED and that will happen. What you say out of your mouth is what you will be.

Trust in the lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. Proverbs 3 5-6

"honour the lord by making him an offering from the best of all your land procedures."

The lord corrects those he loves, as parents would correct a child of whom they are proud of.

Luke chapter 4; Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.”

5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendour; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”

8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.]”

9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”

12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”

13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE

I must say this song has caught my heart and speaks the language of true love.

After All Is Said And Done"
(Beyonce feat. Marc Nelson)

[Beyonce]
Here I am
Looking in the mirror
An open face, the pain erased
Now the sky is clearer
I can see the sun
Now that all is, all is said and done, oh

[Marc]
There you are
Always strong when I need you
You let me give
And now I live, fearless and protected
With the one I will love
After all is, all is said and done

[Beyonce (Marc)]
I once believed that hearts were made to bleed
(Inside I once believed that hearts were made to bleed, oh baby)
But now I'm not afraid to say

[Beyonce & Marc]
I need you, I need you so stay with me

[Beyonce (Marc)]
These precious (precious) hours (yeah)
Greet each dawn in open arms
And dream, into tomorrow

[Beyonce & Marc]
Where there's only love
After all is, all is said and done

[Beyonce (Marc)]
(Yeah baby) Oh baby
(Inside I once believed, that hearts were meant to bleed)

[Beyonce & Marc (Marc)]
(I'll never)
I'll never be afraid to say
I need you, I need you, so here

[Beyonce]
So here we are in the still of this moment
Fear is gone, hope lives on

[Beyonce & Marc (Beyonce)]
We found our happy ending
For there's only love (only love)
And this sweet, sweet love
After all is, all is said and done

[Marc (Beyonce)]
Yeah baby after all is (all is)

[Marc & Beyonce]
All is said and don

MY JOURNEY THROUGH LOVE

Hey Guys,

I know I have not been around. I have been running low trying to get some work done, life drill you know. But it's been good, I must say I have been very lazy to do anything but on the other hand what else can I do. On my love life side I must say I have been having a time of my life with my Sithole. He has been nothing but amazing and I guess that is why  I have been in hiding.

Now my partner and I are ages apart but somehow our lives are able to come together to be one. To think when I met him I was nowhere near to liking him lol lol . I have grown to love and understand him and he has grown to loosen up and ad live a little.

When I met him  I wasn't planning to fall in love. I wasn't even looking for a new best friend. He came and changed  all that. The attraction was electric and unexpected. He came into my world and turned it upside down. Our timing was lousy, but the connection was impossible to ignore. Our logical minds attempted to take control, but never had a chance.

I trust you and you always told me that you "trust me, and more!". You are the first person that showed the 'real' me to, and you appreciate me for me. In the short time we are together, you found out more about me than I had ever let anyone else know. We share and so much, yet there was still so much to learn. I knew so much about you, and then again, so little.
I love your smile, I love your eyes, but most of all I fell in love with the person inside all of that. You make me laugh. You make me laugh a lot! You totally cracked me up. You also make me cry, and I hate that. Most of all, you make me feel alive. You are "the one". I love you.

I walk into work sometimes very tired but with a smile on my face because I know I spend my evenings laughing with the one I love. A lot happens in such a short time but for now I am very  happy and wherever our road takes him and I, I'm ready for it every step of the way.

So God.....If he is the one please help me and keep us safe. I know there is no such thing as having a perfect man but to me because he has his flaws he is everyway perfect and completes my universe.

Stop waiting for your prince charming ladies, get up and go find him and don't go to someone who you know will only complete you half and not the whole of you.

Anyhow this is me in love talking .....

GODMOTHER

I am officially a Godmother. congratulations to my beste ntosh and her man on their new born Mohau. he is very big but most important a blessing from God.

kodak moment

good times with my man and daughter

lent.

Hi Guys
Happy lent. South Africa has been making headlines lately. First with the rape and now Oscar Pistorius killing his girlfriend on Valentines day.
I don't have much to comment on the issues. Firstly no man has the right to rape. That is bull for someone to think women enjoy being penetrated without their concerns.
By me wearing my mini skirt I am not calling rape for myself. I am suppose to be living in a country where I am free to voice my opinions and be who ever but women are living in fear because men are finding it hard to keep their penises away.
I hope the world can move and learn from this pain that people are going through. Next is Oscar I have no words because the only people who were there were Reeve and Oscar so who am I to judge? Who are we to point fingers and say things happened yet we were not all there. I hope justice is done in the correct way and people find peace and comfort.
Its the time for Lent where we fast and pray for 40days. I have started my journey and It was hard at first but heck I am proud of myself. Only my God knows what I am giving up. So guys things are happening around us and we don't stop and observe. Its time to stop pointing and start praying. May we all find peace and forgiveness during this time. Prayer changes guys. Trust your lord and he will show you miracles.

LOVE HAS FOUND ME!

We took this picture of our hands to remind us that when things get tough we just need to hold onto each other.

Last year I asked myself if I was ready for love? I can finally say yes I am!
I have meet the most amazing man who has showed me that love does finally to around. I feel like a little girl who experiencing her first crush. He's a man born and raised in PMB. When I wake up every morning I smile and thank god for blessing my life with so much love and happiness.
First thing I remember asking him was are you married? To my reply he said NO! (happy dance)
when I asked why he explained to me which was very comforting to meet someone who has no luggage that I can say he's mine and not have to worry about another women being all psycho ( lol )
It's not every day where you find romantic notes telling you how much your an amazing women. I look forward to my tomorrows because he's always talking about ours. I'm learning to enjoy every day as it comes, open my heart and speak my emotions.
We find ourselves talking everyday till the early hours of the morning and not realising the time. He appreciates me and my bluntness, never did I think a man would like me for me being so honest.
As a single mom it is very hard to get into a relationship because although you want to love the first person you think about is your child.
I was honest with him from day 1 what I wanted and that I have a child. I was not going to wait three months into the relationship to ask him what he wanted I needed to know there and then. I'm pleased to say we are both on the same page for our tomorrows. He's not perfect but neither am I. We fight like any couple but we make up and have a friendship that can handle any hurdle.
He loves Ntokozo. At first I found it weird whenever he called he would want to speak to her. But I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure.
He is a loving father because he has a  daughter of his own.
Well that is a great start to me 2013 It looks like this year things are looking great!
stay blessed guys!

good morning guys!

Hi Guys,
Can I get an amen January is finally over!!!! As we all adjust back to the likes of life I do hope everyone has been living up to their goals of 2013. I have been trying *hides* lol .
Must say I have been living each day as it come. although there has been some hiccups but guess what ? I'm still alive!
I recently came across a comment on my blog from someone who showed me that there are people who take time to read other peoples blogs. Must say it truly gave me hope as a journalist that technology has not really won this race because we as human have depended so much on technology that we forget to look up and find friends and communicate with people across the globe.
Back to what has been happening to me , I'm pleased to say that my daughter has been potty trained and no more nappies. it felt like a proud moment for me. like really she is growing up. Her dad has been granted access to see her now by my family which im pleased because there is some sort of respect between us now and i feel happy that i don't have to stress everyday about my daughter.
on my love life that all i have to say is wait and see there will be something soon to shock you bloggers ( laughs)

have a great day!

GIVING THANX

Morning guys!
So first week of the new year was not that bad. It's been busy but it's been fun. There is a saying that says better the snake you know than the one you don't know....lol funny I know but this week I ran into some deep shit , can't really go into it but with knowing someone for so many years I decided to ask help from Ntokozo's father. With all our ups and downs we have had I must say I was so shocked with how he pulled through for me. There was even a point where I yelled at him but he still stuck it out.
We have had our differences but I want to thank him for all the help and support. Spending December together I think has made our parental relationship much better.
Some days ago my parents sat me down and told me it was time to let Ntokozo's dad back to be a father to our child.  Two years is a long time to hold anger and now my daughter has her dad back and I'm grateful to god for that blessing, because of him I can look forward to a new year.
Thank you baba Shongwe

HAPPY NEW YEAR

happy New Year everyone! Yep, we made it to 2013....
I just returned to work and it feels like I've been gone only for a day. New Year and new goals. I hope everyone's holidays were fantastic. I must say these holidays for me were the best looking back on all the years. I decided to spend it with m family and making each day count. Most days were spent on drinking lol. My family and I were having the time of our lives. I was never a big fan of wine but my dad has introduced me to it and I must say one I really enjoyed it. There was some family hiccups but that's family, we fight and we make up and we love each other more. I decided to go out and have fun with no regrets and I DID! As the saying goes what happens on holiday stays on holiday. but I will give you a sneak at what happened. My holiday started with the girls and I going to Gold Reef city taking to Vilakazi Str in Soweto and having a ball. Then I did some travelling got to see my home town. Ntokozo got to see her dad's side of the family which was nice. And the rest is history........lol Like everyone else I don't know what the year ahead has in store for us but I do plan on making the most of it. I have given up smoking (victory dance) and decided to go back to church full force. This does not mean Zee will change it just means there will be some adjustments to my life. It won't be easy but YES I CAN DO IT! So this is the year were I'm hanging up my single status and trying this thing called relationship. lol lol Other goals are between my God and but watch the space and you will see. Deleted all those who didn't matter to me in 2012 so I thought why would they matter this year???? Anyhow have a great year guys. All the best and have fun!

CHANGE

Change is always the hardest things we have to do but the fact remains it has to start with you.
2012 is coming to an end. Some might be happy its ending some are stressed things didn't go as planned. We have lost loved ones but gained new love as well.
I have been blessed and thank my lord for the things but some I haven't been.
Some day at church I asked God why a certain situation in my life was occurring? I was conFused and hurt , needed answers to a point we're I cried. The following day while reading my bible I remembered that in order for things to change you must change yourself first.  God never changes and He is the same today as he was in the past and will be in the future. People do change though and God calls us to repent and change of our ways. Whatever we experience in life and through life changes we are to do for God who gives us the strength and courage to carry out His plans in our lives.

I have often heard it said that the only easy way to deal with change is when you are the one doing the change. Truth be told, many times we are not in control of the change and therefore we find it hard to adjust.
Change is real and necessary. For salvation we must change our mind (repent) and agree that God’s way is better than our way. For Spiritual maturity we allow the Holy Spirit to change us as it is written: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed [changed] by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2 KJV).
